The grand finale to our Christmas trip was seeing the musical production "The Lion King." When we were making plans to travel for this trip we decided to fly into Las Vegas to spend extra time with my sister and her family. It just so happened that "The Lion King" was playing at Mandalay Bay. My parents bought us tickets for Christmas, so we were able to see it the Monday after Christmas before we flew back to Portland.

Posing with "Scar" before heading into the theater. Of course, photography was not allowed so there are no other pictures. Don't let the kids' faces fool you. They may not look excited here, but that quickly changed once we were in our seats. The production was amazing. The opening scene with all the animals was spectacular. Tyson kept asking to see the animals again. Our kids loved it. Thanks Grandma and Papa. We had a great night.
We left the next day to fly back home. My sister checked the forecast for us before we left. It said a little rain, but no big deal. Imagine our surprise when we land in a snow covered airport. Apparently, a
surprise snow storm hit an hour or two before we landed. Portland does not deal well with snow. It took us almost five hours to get home from the airport (usually a no-problem 45 minute drive). Luckily we had chains in our van or we might not have made it home at all that night! Boy were we glad to be home!

Seriously, 5 hours! I don't think I, or the kids, could handle that! That's crazy, but glad to hear you made it home safely! It was fun to have you here and are kids miss your kids! Just this morning Madelyn asked, "when are we going to have another family reunion?"
