My parents had a wedding in Portland a couple weekends ago, so they decided to come visit us for a week. On Friday, we went to the Children's museum. It's the first time we've taken our kids since we moved here four years ago. I'm sad I didn't discover it sooner because I know Allison and Ethan would have loved some of the creative play areas (especially the marketplace)when they were 3 or 4 years old. But they had a great time. Ethan's favorite place was the Dig Pit. It was a big open area filled with small pieces of rubber and shovels, pails, and diggers to play with. Tyson loved the music area where there was a large xylophone he could hit with sticks. He just likes making noise. Allison liked the arts and craft areas. She and Grandma went off together to make puppets and the rest of us met up at the clay sculpting area. That was fun for everyone. Even Papa created his own tooth out of clay. There was also a dinosaur exhibit there where the kids made dinosaur tracks, climbed a rock wall, and flew in the air like pterodactyls. All in all, it was a fun time.
